Fitness Fiend: The Running Plan

I have never run more than here or there in my life.  I'm so out of shape, but I know that a) I need the cardio and b) I want to run a half marathon next year!  I'm thinking I may run a few 5Ks, too to keep me on some good goals.  But for now my aim is to run a half marathon in exactly one year.

As a result, I started looking at some training schedules.  It seems that I would need 3 months leading up to the race to train, so in the meantime I'm going to work up to running in general and then train for a 5K.  I'm picking the worst time of the year (fall moving into winter) to start training, but that's okay.  I'm going to do it anyways!

Fitness Fiend: Taking Body Measurements

I have set the goal for myself to run a half marathon in 2013.  Not just any half, but the CHaD half in October.  This will support the hospital where my twin boys were born (see my other blog, Confessions of a Twin Momma for more!).  The marathon is exactly a year away and I haven't started training yet, so I'm beginning the process now.  However, part of the reason for doing this is also to get myself all around healthy.

I get very discouraged by the scale and I know losing INCHES is the bigger thing, so I decided I would start this all by taking my initial measurements.  I'll take and record them at set intervals throughout the process.  I think I'm going to do monthly because otherwise I might get really discouraged (especially with winter coming). So I'm putting it on my calendar to remind me to do it in exactly one month! :)

Getting Started

I have created this blog because I didn't want to mix my ideas for cleaning, organization, crafts, fitness, and budgeting on my other blog: Confessions of a Twin Momma.

After losing our twin boys, I realized that more than anything I want to be a stay-at-home mom, but right now, finances and the nature of my life don't make this possible.  My goal over the next few months as we pursue other options of having a family is to get our household to a point where being a SAHM is feasible and not NEARLY as overwhelming as it would be to me right now.  As part of that is healthy eating and fitness because I feel that if I'm healthy from those standpoints than I will be better off and a better mom.

Now I must say that our house has been ultimately under renovation since we bought it.  There are so many things STILL not done.  I started blogging about that journey over at Our Home Adventures.  I do plan on keeping ALL THREE of these blogs updated on top of working for the next few months, pursuing our parenthood dreams, and completing each and every one of the things I post in this blog!

Some of my goals are....
Get my house completely cleaned and organized (outside of our crazy renovation).
Start a successful Etsy business with all my crafting.
Create and stick to a budget (and pay off all the small outstanding debts we have).
Start monthly meal planning (to save money and time).
Run a half marathon by October 2013.

There are more, I'm sure, but that's it for now...it's quite a task list though!!

I will be creating a few different pages and themes to go along with the blog and try to make at least one post a day.  That's the goal!  We will see how this goes, but please, any feedback is definitely appreciated!
